The work is composed of three essays about Marx, Marxism and the crisis of Marxism plus an introduction and some conclusive remarks. The included texts have been chosen with the porpose of providing a coherent and many-sided analysis of origin, structure and basical problems of the Marxist "Weltanschauung". The focal point of this study is thus those ideas that constitute the general foundation of the Marxist philosophical, historical and political views. The bulk of the discussion is focussed on the following theses:

a. That the fundamental problem of the Marxist approach lies precisely in its nuclear point, namely its prophetic announcement of a coming kingdom in wich mankind has overcome all the painful circumstances that have marked its history untill now. -- b. That there is a continuity between many essential traditions of Western culture and the Marxist approach, a continuity that is particularly strong in respect to basic themes of the Christian outlook. -- c. That the Hegelian philosophy pays a dominant role both for the constitution and for the final formulation of Marxism.
