A film about the life of Talleyrand, the diplomat and archbishop who was active from the onset of the French Revolution into the reign of Louis Philippe. Was Talleyrande a political chameleon who worked for the greatness of France, or a two-faced devil who betrayed everyone? The film has often been described as a personal apology for Sacha Guitry's conduct during World War II (he was accused of collaborating with the Germans, but cleared of all charges after the war).
